The tiny hamlet of Ings stands between Kendal and Windermere on the A591, in the heart of the Lake District National Park. The settlement is just a short drive to Kendal and a brisk walk to Windermere, but is a world away from either of those centres, although it provides a great base for visiting them, just as it does for walking on the fells to the north and south of the hamlet, and for fishing in Windermere and other waters in the surrounding countryside. Ings is a collection of stone cottages, some of them painted in the traditional Cumbrian white, with a lovely church at its heart.
