Situated in central London between the West End and the City, Holborn has everything from historic buildings and world-famous streets to museums, art galleries, markets and theatres, including the Theatre Royal, Drury Lane. Holborn, in part, survived the Great Fire of London in 1666, and so its past is preserved in buildings such as the magnificent Staple Inn. Dating back to 1586, it's a familiar landmark with its jumbled, black-and-white half-timbered frontage overhanging the ground-level shops of High Holborn.
