Guisborough is a market town in North Yorkshire, within the borough of Redcar and Cleveland. The parish includes outlying villages of Upleatham, Dunsdale and Newton under Roseberry as well as Guisborough itself. The town is listed in the Domesday Book as. Gisborough Priory and dates back to the twelfth century. The Priory’s name is spelt differently as that was the original spelling of the town’s name. Saint Nicholas’s church was built from stone taken from the priory. Guisborough Hall is the ancestral home of Lord Guisborough, now a hotel and conference venue.
