Goosnargh is a town in Lancashire in the North Wets of England whose name first appeared as Goose Green in Viking times, then again it could have been an old Irish name “Gosan or Gusan†and which refers to pastureland. In either event it is recent history which has done much to improve this village located close to the Trough of Bowland and Pendle Hill. The two old pubs in the town were coaching inns for travellers from Yorkshire to the coast of Lancashire and later the town would be a drivers nightmare with traffic trying to get to Blackpool – traffic jams through the centre of the town were a regular occurrence.
