Flint( Welsh - Y Fflint) population approx 11,000, is situated on the estuary of the River Dee 5 miles north of Mold on the A5119. The third largest town in Flintshire, it was once the port for Chester. Flint has the oldest (C13) town charter in Wales. Views to the south of the town include the spectacular Halkyn Mountain ridge. Brian Fell's iconic sculpture “ Footplate “can be seen the local railway station. The now ruined remains of Flint Castle stand on rocks overlooking the coastal marshes and have a unique feature in the great Tower or Donjon which was intended as a final place of retreat duting seige - it had its own well and was set apart from other structures.
