Emsworth, a village at the top of the Chichester Harbour channel between the South Downs and sea close to Chichester and Portsmouth, has a strong fishing, sailing and boat building heritage. Famous for its oysters in the 19th century which were sent to all the best hotels and restaurants in London by train, Emsworth, twinned with St Aubin-sur-Mer, Normandy, is also renowned for its breweries and its food festival, the 5th largest in the UK, attracting over 50,000 every September.
