East Brent lies five miles to the west of Axbridge in the charming English county of Somerset. The village lies to the north of the Knoll of Brent, which means Beacon Hill, a 450 foot high hill that dominates the surrounding landscape. A spot on the hill bears the name Battleborough, after a battle in AD875 when the Saxons drove back the Danes. The area is also mentioned in the Domesday Book of 1086. Archeological evidence dating as far back as the Bronze Age and Iron Age has been found on the hill.
