Situated on the Bristol Channel coast just a few miles from Minehead, Dunster has been described as one of the most beautiful villages in England. The village offers a wide choice of restaurants and pubs. Its oldest street is West Street which, although quieter than the High Street, has a florist, a kitchen ware shop and a gift shop, at the end of West Street you can also find the working watermill. In the 1086 Domesday Book, Dunster was listed as Torre, meaning 'The rocky hill'. The prefix 'Duns' may well be a reference to the Saxon Dunn, who held land nearby.
