Desborough is a town in Northamptonshire, some five miles north-west of Kettering. The town's origins lie in the Bronze Age some 2000 years BC. Urns from this period have been found in and around the town. The 1st Century 'Desborough Mirror' is now in the British Museum along with an Anglo-Saxon necklace found in the Paddock Lane area of the town. Other stone artefacts are on display in the parish church of St Giles. The economy of Desborough mainly blossomed due to the spinning and weaving industries, specialising in silk by the nineteenth century.
