Damerham is a village close to the borders of Dorset and Wiltshire in the County of Hampshire that straddles the Allen River. It is a village that is mentioned both in the Domesday Book and the Anglo Saxon Chronicles, it has been a settlement since Saxon Times and is said to have been home to Aethelflaed, wife of King Edmund I who reigned around in the year 950. Until 1895 Damerham was part of Wiltshire, The Manor one of the most important estates in South Wiltshire belonged to Glastonbury Abbey for almost 600 years.
