Cuddington is located on the Cheshire Plains in the North West of England and its name dates back to the Anglo Saxon period meaning “The Tun (people of) Cudaâ€. Throughout much of its history the village was dependant on agriculture and it wasn’t until around 1870 with the coming of the railways that Cuddington was to change. New rural industry started to spring up in the area taking advantage of the improved communication links and in 1870 it was opened for passengers. It was during this period that the wealthy and noble grandees of the region elected to build their grand houses in the area as commuting was now relatively easy, many fine examples of those buildings survive today.
