Cromford is a small village lying on the edge of the Peak District in Derbyshire, set in a valley surrounded by colourful wooded hills and cliffs just gently nudging the River Derwent to the east of the town. Cromford is a walkers delight with its many footpaths and trails winding through the surrounding countryside offering some splendid scenic views of both the village and local countryside. The village of Cromford has enjoyed a long history, archaeologists have found evidence that the Romans were here having unearthed a number of coins dating from the 4th century AD, the reign of the Roman Emperor Constantine 1 who was also the first Roman Emperor to convert to Christianity.
