Coldstream is a historic town in Berwickshire in the Borders region of Scotland situated on the north-bank of the River Tweed 14 miles south-west of Berwick-upon-Tweed. Known as the ‘gateway to England’ Coldstream sits at the lowest point of the River Tweed which was used historically as the point to ford the river and cross the border. Scottish and English armies crossed here en-route to various battles; as a result Coldstream was destroyed and attacked several times in its early history.
