Castletown is a small village located on the north-coast of Caithness in the Highlands of Scotland situated five miles east of Thurso on the south-side of Dunnet Bay. Castletown was a planned village laid out by James Traill to provide housing for the workers at the local flagstone quarries. The harbour was built in 1820 to ship flagstones all over the world and the village was completed in 1825. During World War II Castletown was home to a military airfield, the base lay a few miles east of the village.
