Cambuslang is an ancient town in South Lanarkshire in Scotland situated to east of Rutherglen, south of the River Clyde, 6 miles south-east of Glasgow. The town is known as ‘The largest village in Scotland’ and is the birthplace of Midge Ure the lead-singer of the pop band Ultravox and author Robin Jenkins who’s most famous novel was ‘The Cone-Gatherers’. Remains have been discovered throughout the town during housing developments which give evidence that settlers have lived in the area since the Iron Age.
