Buckie is a fishing town within the district of Moray in Aberdeenshire, Scotland, situated 8 miles north-east of Fochabers, on the Moray Firth with the Burn of Buckie flowing through town dividing east and west. Buckie’s traditional fishing communities’ date back to the 17th century; Buckie has been described as ‘the largest purely fishing village in Scotland’. Buckie’s new town was laid out by the Gordon family of Cluny in the late 1700’s, with a central square and long main street, in linear style following the coastline.
