Bridge of Orchy is a small village in Argyll and Bute Scotland, bordering the west side of the central Highlands. Military roads and bridges were built all over the Highlands after the Jacobite Rising of 1715 with the intention of suppressing rebellion, the village of Bridge of Orchy dates back to 1751 with the building of the arched bridge over the River Orchy by Major Caulfield. The village is on the West Highland Way a long distance footpath from Glasgow to Fort William in the Highlands, the route heads through Bridge of Orchy via Tyndrum heading on to Inveroran.
