The village of Bridestowe in West Devon is so named after the 5th Century St Brigidia to whom its church is also dedicated. “Stowe†Means “Holy place of†And “Bridestowe†“Holy place of St Bridgetâ€. A settlement at Bridestowe can be traced back to the Bronze Age. Visitors can obtain a “Book of Bridestowe†From the village Post-Office which documents the history of the village including feudal disputes and photographs of the old village.
