Situated on the shores of the longest and largest inlet in England's coastline is the charming Somerset village of Brean. Brean Down, some 300ft high, forms the northern boundary of the village. It juts out into the Bristol Channel and separates Brean from Weston-super-Mare. The Down at one time must have been an extension of the Mendip Hills. Signs of ancient settlement with dating back to the Stone Age have been found on the Down. Evidence of extinct Mammoths and Bison dating 10,000 years B.
