Blaby is a village in Leicestershire that sits on the southern bank of the Union Canal, with picturesque buildings and a lovely church dating back to 1327, home to 6,240 people. A walking Trail takes you around Glen Parva and the old Saxon Settlement. For lovers of museums the problem is definitely where to start, perhaps Wigston Framework Knitters Museum, where machines are housed in a 1700’s Hosier’s house, or how about The National Gas Museum where 4000 exhibits including a 1920’s kitchen, a radio, and even a gas hairdryer will intrigue most visitors… Newarke Houses Museum which also includes the Royal Leicestershire Regiment Museum is tempting, the wonderful exhibits include a WW1 Trench, and a 1940’s street complete with shops.
