Bickleigh is a small picturesque village on the banks of the River Exe, in the Exe Valley in Devon home to over 240 people. This charming village has a peppering of thatched cottages, a Railway Museum in the grounds of the old Railway Station complete with train rides, and even an ancient bridge that dates back many centuries which inspired Paul Simon to write that haunting melody ’Bridge over troubled waters’. There is a buffet of delights waiting for those who visit, whether it’s history at Buckland Abbey which will be hard to resist, dating back 700 years and was home to Sir Francis Drake, or how about the Medieval masterpiece of Cotehele House, which showcases intricate tapestries worked by delicate fingers.
