Bicester is a town in the Cherwell district of north-eastern Oxfordshire, 12 miles from Oxford. It is a thriving market town and the historic Market Place is actually a triangle. In and around Market Place are numerous listed buildings dating from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, including Old Place Yard with its turreted dovecote. Pubs include the Swan Inn, Six Bells, Bluecoats, and Crick House on Church Street. The ruins of the Roman settlement of Alchester and the remains of a 12th century Augustinian priory are found 1.
