This ancient village is situated in the oddly named Parish of Melksham Without. Dating back to at least AD 1275 the village developed in a ribbon pattern along what is now the busy A350. It is linked by footpaths to the Old Roman Road near Laycock and also to the market town of Melksham. Village life in Beanacre centres around the St. Barnabas Church and Church Hall and the recently developed village recreation area. Built in 1886, St. Barnabas Church replaced a private chapel at the Manor House as the only place of formal Anglican worship available in the village.
