Banff is an ancient Royal Burgh town on the west bank of the Moray Firth coast-line on north-east side of Scotland, situated one mile from Macduff, separated by a seven arched bridge over the River Deveron; built in1779. Banff’s charter as a Royal Burgh dates from 1163 confirmed by Robert the Bruce in 1324. Banff is well-known for cliff top paths, hidden coves and interesting architecture. Robert Burns visited Banff in 1780 and wrote McPherson’s Farewell. Banff, originally was a port but was silted up in the 1800’s, is a traditional Scottish town of period character with fine town houses and harbour.
