Balmaha is a small picturesque village perfectly placed on the eastern shores of Loch Lomond, Stirling, in Scotland. It has a pretty sheltered harbour where Steamers once brought holidaymakers and tourists. Although the Steamers have gone fishing boats, and pleasure craft stop here and a ferry still departs from the Pier across the Loch where the ancient Island of Inchcailloch, the Island of Nuns is to be found. Its history has been linked to the village for centuries, a legacy of which can still be seen today with the 12th Century church ruins that remain.
