Ballycastle is a small, uncrowded town surrounded by dramatic scenery. Situated on the north-east coast, it enjoys a beautiful bayside location and an award-winning beach, framed to the east by the spectacular cliff of Fairhead and to the west by Kinbane Head, a rugged outcrop bearing a 16th Century castle ruin. Ballycastle is overlooked by Knocklayde Mountain and is at the heart of the nine Glens of Antrim, two of which - Glentaisie and Glenshesk - converge at the bay. On the slopes of Knocklayde, Ballycastle Forest is worth visiting.
