The Avebury Stone Circle and village are located some 20 miles to the north of Stonehenge in the Kennet valley and lie within a World Heritage Site.
The largest stone circle in Europe, Avebury formed the centre of one of the most impressive Neolithic ceremonial landscapes in Britain. The great circles, consisting of 200 standing stones were arranged in an outer circle and 2 inner circles, surrounded by a massive bank and ditch.
Avebury Tourist Information Centre can be found in the Chapel on Green Street, opposite the Red Lion public house.
