Anstruther is located on the north-shore coastline of the Firth of Forth, and is the largest of the villages in the East Neuk. Anstruther is a typical seaside village with the shops overlooking the harbour. The main industry is tourism, but was originally a fishing village. It has the largest harbour of all the East Neuk ports and still has its original pier. Anstruther is home to the Scottish Fisheries Museum, opened in 1969, the museum shows a range of exhibits on all aspects of fishing history in the East Neuk, including records as far back as 1318.
