Laganside, Belfast, was once a busy port whose great warehouses were built by eminent Victorian architects. Spearheaded by the Waterfront Hall entertainment centre, the area has been rejuvenated with bistros, bars, restaurants, boutiques, galleries and penthouse apartments.
The McCausland Hotel, originally built as two warehouses in the 1850s, is an integral part of this exciting renaissance. The hotel is of Italianate classical style with a spectacular ornate four storey facade depicting carved representations of the five continents.
A short walk will lead you to the pedestrian city centre where there are an array of high street stores, gift shops, restaurants and cafes. A walk over the river Lagan will take you to the new Odyssey Arena, which will be home to a 10 screen cinema and 10,000 capacity concert hall.
