About Bed and Breakfasts
What is the difference between a B&B, a Guesthouse and a small Hotel? Usually it comes down to size and dinner! Apparently a guesthouse is bigger than a B&B, but smaller than a small hotel and doesn't offer an evening meal. Although, just to confuse the pigeon-holing exercise, a B&B will sometimes offer an evening meal as well - but usually you'll find yourself at the local pub or restaurant. We've put guesthouses and B&Bs together (on account of life being too short to try and sort out which is which). B&Bs can fall into the no frills budget accommodation or they may exhibit deluxe and unusual characteristics and cost a bit more! The chances are you're in someone's private home and that often makes it more personal, cosy and relaxed. Use a B&B to stop off on a journey, or for a longer stay if you intend to be out and about a bit.
