Whithorn is a village in Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland, situated 18 miles south of Newton Stewart. Whithorn is well-known as the resting place of St Ninian, Scotland’s first saint who brought Christianity in 397, dying in Whithorn in 431. The village was designed in the Middle Ages with a market square and garden plots, the focus of the village is the picturesque harbour, Whithorn is a popular tourist destination with a hotel, an inn, shops and amenities and yacht club.
