West Huntspill is a village on the Huntspill Level in Somerset, situated close to the mouth of the River Parrett. It is only about two miles from the seaside resort of Burnham on Sea and offers easy access to the busy M5 motorway. A possible Iron Age settlement has been discovered at nearby Alstone. Records first mention Huntspill in about 796 AD, when Aethelmund, a nobleman under King Offa of Mercia, granted the area to Glastonbury Abbey. The Domesday Book of 1086 also gives Huntspill a mention as 'Honspil'.
