Thornhill is a historical village in Dumfries and Galloway in southern Scotland situated 14 miles north of Dumfries on the River Nith. Thornhill village was planned and built in 1717 on the Queensberry Estate on the road linking Dumfries to Glasgow. This rural setting is a popular tourist destination surrounded by beautiful countryside and spectacular views over the Southerland Uplands. There are two hotels and a coaching inn all dating from the 1800’s and four churches from the 18th and 19th centuries.
