Symington is a small tranquil village in upper Clydesdale in South Lanarkshire, Scotland, situated in the Borderlands 3 miles south-west of Biggar. The village was developed c1860 at a railway junction; although the railway closed in 1966 the village remains a popular tourist resort surrounded by beautiful scenery and wildlife. Symington lies close to Tinto Hill standing at 2320ft high on the northern bank of the upper reaches of the River Clyde with the Culter Hills standing to the south and south-east.
