Shildon is an interesting town in County Durham in North East England home to over ten thousand people. It played an important role in the birth of the Railway, a legacy which is shared at the local Museum dedicated to Timothy Hackworth who helped pioneer the first ever passenger railway, and incorporates Locomotion National Railway Museum. This fabulous Museum spreads over 15 acres, or if that’s not enough be prepared to be impressed at the Head Of Steam, which has enthralling displays and locomotives on offer.
