If when you think of Salford you think of dark satanic mills then you couldn’t be more wrong. It is true that during the 18th and 19th century Salford built its reputation on the mills and manufacturing making it the engine house of the North West in terms of cotton production and heavy industries but the 20th century saw this area on the outskirts of Manchester in the North West of England suffer with competition from other, cheaper producers. Courtesy of the Industrial Revolution the area benefited from excellent communication links in terms of road, rail and canal infrastructure and this was to greatly help the area regenerate itself towards the end of the 20th Century.
