Queensferry is a village on the Fife side of the Firth of Forth dominated by the Forth Rail and Road Bridges, ten miles from Edinburgh. The village is sited on the narrowest part of the Forth, the most natural point of crossing; Queen Margaret regularly crossed the Forth by ferry from the village which became known as the Queen’s Ferry, although there is evidence it was a settlement long before. The oldest existing building is the ruined medieval chapel of St. James the Apostle abandoned after the reformation.
