A popular commuter town in the borough of Hertsmere, South Hertfordshire is Potters Bar. Ideally located on junction 24 of the M25 and close to the A1M but crucially outside the London orbital, though only 18 miles to the city centre. There are high-speed over-ground rail links, as Potters Bar isn’t quite on the Tube Network. The town originated in the 13th century as part of Middlesex (until 1965), on one of the two main routes out of London to the north (the A1000) and growth/change only began in 1850 when the Great Northern Railway arrived.
