Port Charlotte is a small attractive village on Islay, one of the islands of the Inner Hebrides in the Argyll and Bute district of Scotland, Port Charlotte is situated to the north of Loch Indaal on the Rhinns of Islay. The settlement was founded in 1828 on the site of two former clachans by Walter Campbell, the Laird of Islay, he then named it after his mother. The village was laid out with neat rows of traditional white-painted cottages designed to accommodate workers from the local Lochindaal whiskey distillery.
