Minster Lovell is a village in the Oxfordshire Cotswolds, by the river Windrush, 3 miles from Witney. Minster Lovell is made up of three parts: Old Minster, Little Minster, and New Minster. A large part of New Minster is the Charterville Allotments, which were set up by the Chartist Land Company between 1844 and 1848. Five estates were purchased, subdivided, and built on, and settled by shareholders who were chosen by lottery. Minster Lovell is the largest of the Chartist estates and meant the area was once known as Charterville.
