Kirkmichael is a small village positioned on the northern bank of the Dyrock Burn in Ayrshire, Scotland, and is home to fewer than five hundred people. The village evolved in the 13th Century after a church was constructed by the Burn, which was dedicated to St Michael, from which the village took its name, remnants of the ancient Kirk remains today. A new church was built in the 18th century which has attractive gem coloured stained glass windows. A gentle walk will discover a wealth of white stone cottages, and houses that link with the 18th Century when they were first built for the Weavers who toiled here.
