Kintyre is a long narrow peninsula approximately 11 miles across and 40 miles long in Argyll and Bute on the west coast of Scotland with the Mull of Kintyre along the Atlantic coast-line at the southern end and East Loch Tarbet in the north. Kintyre was made famous by the song ‘Mull of Kintyre’ by Paul McCartney, who enjoyed holidays in the area with his family. Kintyre is an ancient site with beautiful scenery, hidden coves and unspoilt beaches. There are many historically interesting features including prehistoric standing-stones, cairns, Iron Age Forts, historic castles and medieval churches.
