Insch is a small historic town in the valley of the River Spey in Aberdeenshire in Scotland 12 miles north-west of Inverurie. There is evidence of a settlement in the area dating back to the 9th century with the Maiden Stone, a Pictish cross slab, standing near the Chapel of Garioch, and the Loanhead Stone Circle dating back 4000-5000 years standing near Daviot. Insch was home to Flemish merchants during the Middle-Ages. The Insch Museum is run by volunteers and is housed in the Railway Station building displaying exhibitions on the railway and the local history of Insch.
