Humbie is a rural hamlet in East Lothian in Scotland situated beneath the Lammermuir Hills on the west bank of the Humbie Water, 4 miles east of Pathhead and 15 miles south-east of Edinburgh. The scattered settlement was formed in 1618 with the union between Keith Marischal and Keith Hundeby. Historically interesting features include the 18th century Humbie House, Humbie Mill lying on the Humbie water and Humbie Kirk, a T-plan Gothic Parish Church built c1800 with the chancel added in 1932 and in the kirk-yard lies the heraldic tablet of the Borthwicks of Whitburgh of the early 1600’s, opposite stands the 18th century lectern-style Humbie Doocot, now a residence.
