Situated pretty much at the heart of the Yorkshire Dales National Park, the tiny village of Hubberholme is definitely off the beaten track. Indeed, larger scale road maps don’t show it – find Buckden and head west, following the River Wharfe. But it is worth seeking out. If you don’t find the setting of the village lovely you shouldn’t venture out of the city. Langstrothdale is one of the lesser known dales, with some serious hills around it. Hubberholme sits where Wharfedale and Langstrothdale come together, at the centre of a triangle formed by Buckden Pike, Pen-y-Ghent and Dodd Fell, all of them over 2,000 feet.
