The village of Great Hallingbury featured in the Doomsday Book & the parish church of St.Giles' is very ancient, being about nine hundred years old. Great Hallingbury is ideally placed a few miles south-east of Bishops Stortford, near the River Stort and the Great Eastern railway line and just 2 miles from Stansted Airport. Junction 8 of the M11 is approximately 1.5 miles from the village centre too. This picturesque little village is so named due to being located on the perimeter of what was Hallingbury Place estate, adjacent to Hatfield Forest.
