The tiny North Yorkshire settlement of Ferrensby lies just five minutes or so from either junction 47 or 48 of the A1(M), within easy striking distance of Harrogate, and closer still to Knaresborough. Situated as it is, so close to the old Great North Road, it is not surprising that the biggest attraction in the village is an old coaching inn, the General Tarleton. The inn has been there for some 250 years, but in recent times it has developed into a particularly well reputed restaurant as well as remaining a proper country inn.
