Evanton is a large village in Easter Ross in the Highlands of Scotland with Ben Wyvis rising to the west and the Cromarty Firth to the south, Evanton is situated 7 miles north of Dingwall and 15 miles north of Inverness. Evanton dates from the early 19th century during the Highland Clearances when the local laird Evan Fraser of Baconie cleared his estate for sheep and planned this township near the newly built road between the River Glass (or Allt Graad) and the River Sgitheach. Evanton is a popular tourist resort and an ideal base to tour the Highlands.
