The most northerly stops on the Piccadilly Line of the underground system are in the London Borough of Enfield. There is a population of around 300,000 in this mostly residential suburb. It is also home to 3 campuses of Middlesex University, one of which is in Trent Park (one of the largest of several parks). Enfield was originally a small market town, on the edge of a forest and is still very green (being on the London Green Belt), ideal for the plentiful golf courses. Roman Enfield was connected to London by Ermine Street, which went all the way up to York.
