Didcot is a town in the Thames Valley, in the county of Oxfordshire (although formerly in Berkshire). The town is located approximately 8 miles south of the city of Oxford. Historically famous as a railway town, the building of the Great Western Railway from London to the West Country sparked the growth of Didcot in the 19th century. The Didcot Railway Centre has a collection of Great Western Railway steam engines, coaches, wagons, buildings and small relics; and a recreation of Brunel's broad gauge railway.
